Spiced Cider

Whether you're celebrating the holidays or just cozying up with a mug, you can’t go wrong with the comforting taste and wonderful aroma of spiced cider. This is a great alternative to hot chocolate with a fraction of the phosphorus and sodium. If carbs are a concern, you can look for apple cider-flavored powder mixes that are low in carbs and are also lower in phosphorus, potassium, and sodium.

apple cider

cinnamon sticks
1 teaspoon
whole cloves
1 teaspoon
whole allspice
1⁄4 cup
brown sugar (packed)

Instructions

  • Pour cider in crock-pot.
  • Add in sugar and stir till dissolved.
  • Mix in spices.
  • Cook on low for 2-3 hours.
  • Spices will settle on the bottom.
  • Use slotted spoon to scoop out spices when cider is done.
