Privacy Policy
We at NxStage Kidney Care, Inc. ("NxStage") are committed to protecting the privacy of our users, and we treat any information you share with discretion, care, and respect. This notice describes NxStage’s Privacy Policy for information we collect from individuals through the NxStageKidneyCare.com website (the "Site") and does not apply to any information collected by NxStage through other means. By using our Site, you signify your acceptance of this Privacy Policy. Please do not use the Site or submit any personally identifiable information to us if you object to these terms.
What types of information do we collect online?
We collect both personally identifiable information – that is, information that can be used to uniquely identify or contact you – and non-personally identifiable information when you visit our Site.
We only collect personally identifiable information about you when you voluntarily provide it to us, such as your name, address, phone number, e-mail address, and responses to specific questions (e.g., reasons for visiting our Site). For example, we collect such information when you fill out a job application through our Careers page, fill out requests for information, listen to webcasts, or subscribe to newsletters through our Site. We may also record the types of product information you have requested on the Site.
We do not request, solicit, or require you to disclose information about your or another person’s health or medical status through the Site. Health care providers should be careful not to provide confidential health or medical information about their practice or patients.
If you fill out a job application through our Careers page, you may be given the opportunity to provide your gender, race, ethnicity, and veteran status. Completion of this information is voluntary and is not a requirement of employment. Providing this information will in no way affect the decision regarding your application for employment. This information will be kept confidential. You will also be prompted for relevant personally identifiable information including, but not limited to, address, phone number, e-mail address and employment history.
We may collect certain types of non-personally identifiable information from you automatically through the use of "cookies" and 1-pixel gifs. Cookies are small text files that your web browser places on your computer’s hard drive. 1-pixel gifs are tiny graphic image files embedded on certain pages of the Site that send certain information from your web browser back to our servers.
We may use cookies and 1-pixel gifs to collect certain non-personally identifiable information about your use of the site, such as to track what pages you view within the Site, to tell us whether you have visited the Site previously, and to help us determine if you came from a particular link or banner advertisement.
The information we collect through cookies and 1-pixel gifs is not personally identifiable.
How do we use the information that we collect?
We use personally identifiable information primarily to respond to consumers’ and patients’ requests (such as to process job applications and create employment records for applicants we hire). We may also use the personally identifiable information for market research, or to personalize your experience on our Site, to allow us to better understand how NxStage may serve your needs, or to contact you about changes affecting the Site, or the information collected about you.
Like most websites, we may also add to the personally identifiable information collected about you a variety of non-personally identifiable technical information collected, including (but not limited to) your IP address (a unique number that identifies your access account on the Internet), domain, and web browser information. We may track the page you visited before coming to our Site, the page you link to when you leave, which of our pages you access, and how long you spend on each page.
We also use non-personally identifiable information for internal business and marketing purposes.
How do we share information with third parties, and why?
We may share certain personally identifiable information with third parties, including current or potential business partners, for a number of reasons, including, but not limited to, market research.
Notwithstanding anything else in this policy, we may also disclose to third parties personally identifiable and non-personally identifiable information: (a) to respond to a request that you have made; (b) to comply with legal obligations, such as when required by a valid legal mechanism such as a search warrant, subpoena, or court, governmental, or administrative order, or when required to report information regarding use of our products; (c) when necessary to protect the integrity of our Site or the safety of Site users, our employees, or property; or (d) if we sell some or all of our assets or there is another transfer of our business. In such event, we may retain a copy of the transferred information.
What about children’s privacy?
The Site is not targeted to children, and we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13 on this site. This site is entirely aimed at adults. We do not filter advertisements or other content that children may view through the public portions of our Site.
How are e-mail links treated?
We use e-mail links located on the "Contact Us" page or on other pages on the Site to allow you to contact us directly with any questions or comments you may have. We attempt to read every message we receive and try to reply promptly to each one. The information you provide when you contact us is used to respond directly to your questions or comments and may be shared within the Company. We may also file your comments to improve the website and learning programs, or review and discard the information.
